The decision: space or direct access?
The wired, mechanical K617 FIZZ uses a compact 61-key layout. The K582 SURARA red-switch listing specifies 104 keys. The practical difference is which keys stay directly under your fingers. Official sources below.
Our editorial take: shortlist the K617 if your mouse keeps running into your keyboard and you can adapt to function-layer shortcuts. Shortlist the K582 if you regularly enter numbers or want a full-size arrangement for work and games.
Put it on your shortlist
You want a compact setup and can learn the shortcuts for missing dedicated keys: consider the K617. You use a numpad often or want direct access to more keys: consider the K582.
Know the compromise
You need wireless connectivity: the editions compared here are wired. You need measured acoustics or latency to decide: this guide cannot supply those tests.
Try this before downsizing
- Watch your hands for a day. Note every time you use arrows, function keys, navigation keys and the numpad.
- Check the exact manual. Find the function-layer combinations for the compact model. Decide whether those combinations interrupt your work.
- Measure usable desk space. Include the mouse movements you actually make, rather than comparing keyboard width alone.
- Confirm regional layout. The K617 page offers US-ANSI and separate regional options. This guide focuses on the US listing; legends and key counts may differ elsewhere.
Switches are a separate choice
The referenced mechanical K617 listing and K582 red-switch listing describe hot-swappable red switches. That does not establish universal switch compatibility across every revision. Check the socket and replacement switch requirements for the unit you are buying.
Do not assume that a red switch guarantees a silent keyboard. Case construction, keycaps, desk surface and how you type can all matter. We have not measured either keyboard’s noise.
Keep the editions straight
This comparison covers the ordinary wired mechanical K617 FIZZ White & Grey and K582 SURARA red-switch edition. It does not cover K617 magnetic editions, K582 SE, or every color and regional variant. The K582 page contains mixed secondary feature descriptions, so we avoid relying on its media-wheel and lighting-mode claims.

Manufacturer specifications can change. Match the full model, switch, connection type and regional layout before paying. A specification is not an independently measured performance result.
