A mouse can support several computers and still make switching awkward. The important question is not just how many devices it pairs with, but how you switch—and whether your work computers allow that method.
For this problem, the Logitech M720 Triathlon offers a physical switching control accessible without turning the mouse over. MX Master 4 offers a software alternative through Actions Ring, not a software-free substitute. This is a manufacturer-documentation comparison: we have not measured switching speed, tested corporate VPN configurations or evaluated comfort.

No additional software allowed
If Bluetooth pairing is permitted on both computers, M720 is a candidate for physical switching. Its guide describes operating-system Bluetooth pairing separately from optional customization. If Bluetooth is prohibited or unknown, check with IT before buying.
A USB receiver is not an automatically approved workaround. Pairing M720 to a second Unifying receiver requires pairing software; its legacy guide does not establish that your current managed computer can run it. If only one computer permits software, treat the pair as restricted until you can switch in both directions.

Software permitted on both
Investigate MX Master 4 Actions Ring. Logitech documents an Easy-Switch action to select a paired computer from an on-screen menu. It requires Options+. Confirm both OS versions, the approved Options+ version and feature availability before purchasing. Permission to install software is not proof every feature works in the corporate environment.

03 / SEPARATE THE METHODS
Four methods. Different requirements.
Hardware switching
Selects an already paired computer with a physical control. This is distinct from moving across screen edges or transferring files.

Flow
Switches when the pointer reaches a screen edge. Logitech requires Options+ on the computers and the same wired or wireless network, plus an active internet connection for initial setup. Office restrictions may prevent discovery.
VPN does not universally break Flow, but managed VPN setups are not guaranteed compatible.

Actions Ring
An on-screen shortcut menu; MX Master 4’s documented Easy-Switch action chooses a paired destination. It requires Options+. We have not verified isolated networks or managed installations.
Do not buy assuming it works offline or bypasses workplace restrictions.

Enhanced Easy-Switch
Need keyboard and mouse to switch together? This newer feature requires supported hardware, current keyboard firmware and Options+ running on every computer. Bluetooth/Bolt connections are supported on compatible devices; devices using Unifying technology are not supported, even when connected via Bluetooth.
Check the official supported-device requirements before considering this route. We are not presenting M720 as an Enhanced Easy-Switch-compatible option. This is conditional software functionality, not permission to ignore IT restrictions.

04 / WRITE THIS DOWN FIRST
Check both computers before choosing.
- Operating systems: record the OS and version on each machine.
- Pairing permission: confirm Bluetooth and/or approved receiver methods with IT.
- Ports and package: check available USB ports, receiver family and exact box contents.
- Software on both: confirm whether the approved version can run on both machines and support the intended feature.
With permitted Bluetooth and no extra software, investigate M720’s physical route. With software allowed, investigate MX Master 4 Actions Ring. If permissions or package contents remain unclear, we do not recommend purchasing either yet.
